Seachem Focus is a polymer-based antibacterial binder intended to mix with fish food to treat internal bacterial and fungal infections. By binding medication to food, it provides a targeted treatment that is less harmful to invertebrates, corals, and aquatic plants than water column dosing.

Uses and benefits
  • Treats internal infections: The polymer-bound nitrofurantoin helps treat internal bacterial infections in fish. Bloating, abnormal stools, and loss of appetite are common signs of an internal infection.
  • Minimizes water contamination: By ensuring that the medication is ingested, Focus prevents the medication from dissolving into the aquarium water.
  • Reef and invert-safe: This method of targeted delivery is ideal for reef and planted tanks because it prevents sensitive corals, plants, and invertebrates from being exposed to the medication.
  • Enhances palatability: Focus helps to make medications more palatable to fish when mixed with food. For even more effective results, you can mix it with a palatability enhancer like Seachem GarlicGuard.
  • Versatile: It is suitable for use in both freshwater and marine aquariums.

How to use
Seachem recommends mixing Focus with food and a compatible medication for targeted treatment.
Basic recipe for medicated food mix:
  1. Add 1 scoop of your chosen medication and 1 scoop of Seachem Focus to 1 tablespoon of pellets or frozen food.
  2. If you are using dry food, add a few drops of water to help the powder bind.
  3. Mix everything together.
  4. Feed the fish once daily for at least one week, offering only what they can consume in one minute.
Important considerations:
  • Not a standalone treatment: While Focus contains an antibacterial polymer, it is intended to be combined with a primary medication, such as Seachem MetroPlex or Seachem KanaPlex, to target specific infections.
  • Storage: Leftover medicated food can be refrigerated or frozen between feedings.
  • Observe and diagnose: Many diseases share similar symptoms, so it is important to research your fish's specific symptoms to choose the correct corresponding medication to mix with Focus.
