Fritz   is an herbal, bio-adhesive water supplement that helps treat and prevent common external parasitic infections, such as Ich and Velvet, by strengthening the fish's natural slime coat. It uses natural oils and extracts and is generally considered safe for use with most plants and invertebrates when dosed correctly.

Product Details and Benefits
  • Active Ingredients: A blend of natural oils and extracts including Capsaicin Oil, Chitosan, D-Limonene, Manuka oil, and Neem oil. It is free of dyes and metal-based active ingredients.
  • Mechanism: The natural oils are combined with a polymer that acts as a synthetic slime coat, providing a protective shield around the fish and helping the active ingredients penetrate the fish's skin.
  • Compatibility: Can be used in both freshwater and saltwater systems. It is generally safe for plants and invertebrates; however, some sessile invertebrates (like corals and polyps) may temporarily retract for up to 24 hours during use.
  • Usage: Suitable for treating mild cases of parasitic diseases or as a preventative treatment after stressful events like adding new fish or handling.
  • Effect on Filtration: The product may slow biological filtration. If ammonia or nitrite becomes a concern, a detoxifier like Fritz Complete or Fritz A.C.C.R. should be used. It may also cause excessive foam production in protein skimmers, which should be turned off if this occurs.

Usage
Fritz ParaShield is typically administered in a series of applications over several days. The specific application schedule and amounts can vary depending on the type of aquarium and the organisms present.
For aquariums containing only fish, the recommended usage involves applications on specific days over a five-day period.
In aquariums with sensitive invertebrates, a modified approach is suggested, involving multiple applications each day for a total number of treatments. These applications are typically spaced apart within a 24-hour period, and the overall treatment is repeated every other day.
Important Considerations:
  • It is generally recommended to remove chemical filtration media during treatment.
  • Elevating water temperature may enhance the effectiveness for certain parasitic species, but it is important to ensure sufficient aeration if doing so.
  • Following the complete recommended series of applications is important, even if symptoms appear to improve. If symptoms persist after completing one course of applications, exploring alternative treatment options may be necessary.
