The "Aeneus Cory Green" is a color variation of the bronze corydoras, Corydoras aeneus. It is a small, hardy, and peaceful catfish well-suited for community tanks. These bottom-dwelling fish are active scavengers and known for their iridescent green and silver coloration.

Tank requirements
  • Tank Size: A minimum of a 30-gallon tank is recommended for a school of six or more, as these are social, schooling fish.
  • Decor: The tank should have plenty of plants and hiding places like driftwood or rocks to make the corys feel secure.
  • Substrate: Use a smooth sand or fine gravel substrate. Sharp-edged gravel can damage their delicate barbels, which they use to forage for food.
  • Lid: A secure lid is recommended, as corydoras may dart to the surface to gulp air.

Water parameters
Green aeneus corys are adaptable and tolerant of a wide range of water conditions.

Parameter  Range
Temperature 72–79°F (22–26°C)
pH 6.0–7.2
Hardness (KH) 2–12
  • Water Quality: They are sensitive to poor water quality, especially high nitrates. Regular water changes (25% weekly) are crucial.

Diet and feeding
As omnivores, they need a varied diet of sinking foods to ensure they get enough nutrition.
  • Staple: High-quality sinking pellets, wafers, and flake food that has fallen to the bottom.
  • Supplement: Live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms.
  • Note: Never rely on them to survive on leftover food. Actively feed them at the bottom to ensure they get enough.

Behavior and tank mates
  • Temperament: Green aeneus corys are peaceful and highly social. They should be kept in a school of at least six to display natural behaviors and reduce stress.
  • Tank Mates: Good tank mates include peaceful, similarly sized community fish like tetras, rasboras, and livebearers. Avoid aggressive bottom-dwellers or large fish that may see them as prey.
  • Lifespan: With proper care, they can live for 5 to 10 years or longer
