(37)Albino Rainbow Shark

The albino red fin shark is more commonly known as the Albino Rainbow Shark (Epalzeorhynchos frenatum). It is a color variation of the Rainbow Shark and is prized for its pale white or pink body and striking red fins. Despite its common name, it is not a true shark but a freshwater minnow from Southeast Asia.

• Coloration: The albino rainbow shark is defined by its pinkish-white body and vibrant red or orange fins, as well as its red eyes. Its shark-like dorsal fin gives it its common name.
• Size: They can reach a maximum length of about 6 inches, though they may stay smaller in an aquarium.
• Distinctive features: Like other rainbow sharks, they have an elongated, streamlined body and a pointed snout. 

• Tank size: A minimum of a 50-gallon tank is recommended for a single albino rainbow shark, as they are active and can be territorial. Larger tanks (75+ gallons) are necessary for housing multiple sharks.
• Water parameters: They are hardy fish that tolerate a wide range of water conditions.
  • Temperature: 72–82°F (22–28°C).
  • pH: 6.5–7.5.
• Aquascaping: Provide plenty of hiding spots and barriers using driftwood, rocks, and dense vegetation to help minimize territorial disputes. A fine gravel or sand substrate is recommended.
• Lid: A secure lid is essential, as these fish are known to be good jumpers. 

• Omnivorous: Albino rainbow sharks are not picky eaters and will accept a varied diet. In the wild, they consume algae, insects, larvae, and decaying plant matter.
• Aquarium foods: Offer a mix of high-quality sinking pellets, flakes, and vegetable-based foods. You can also supplement their diet with frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp.
• Algae grazing: They will also graze on algae in the tank. 

• Temperament: Albino rainbow sharks are semi-aggressive and territorial, especially towards their own species and similar-looking bottom-dwelling fish.
• Tank mates: It is generally recommended to keep only one albino rainbow shark per tank unless it is very large with plenty of hiding spots. Good tank mates include faster-swimming, robust fish that occupy the mid-to-upper levels of the tank, such as large gouramis, barbs, danios, and rainbowfish.
• Incompatible tank mates: Avoid keeping them with slow-moving fish or other "shark" species like Red Tail or Bala sharks, as they will likely become aggressive towards them.
