Guard
 is a safe and effective pH-buffered water conditioner for use in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums. It is designed to make tap water safe for aquatic life by neutralizing common toxins and providing beneficial additives for fish health and the biological filter. 

Key Functions
  • Neutralizes Toxins: Instantly removes toxic chlorine and chloramines from tap water.
  • Detoxifies Heavy Metals: Binds with and detoxifies heavy metals commonly found in source water.
  • Reduces Stress & Promotes Healing: Contains Aloe Vera and Vitamin E to reduce fish stress during handling, transport, or water changes, and to promote the healing of wounds.
  • Enhances Slime Coat: Provides a synthetic slime coat replacement (mucus glands naturally secrete this for protection) to help fish ward off disease and aid in osmoregulation.
  • Provides Electrolytes: Supplies essential electrolytes to help maintain proper internal fluid balance in fish.
  • Aids Biofiltration: The polymers in Fritz Guard can coat filter media, which helps beneficial bacteria (like those in FritzZyme products) attach and establish more effectively, enhancing the biofilter. 

Usage and Dosing
  • Dosage: Use 5 mL (1 teaspoon) per 10 U.S. gallons (38 L) of water.
  • Application: For best results, mix Fritz Guard into new tap water in a separate container before adding the treated water to the aquarium.
  • Overdosing: The dosage can be safely increased up to five times the recommended amount if needed.
  • Equipment: For marine aquariums, turn off protein skimmers for 6 hours after dosing to avoid excessive foaming.
  • Compatibility: Fritz Guard is safe for all fish and most aquatic life, but it is not recommended for use with axolotls, as the aloe vera can coat their gills. It is safe to use with the medication Ich-X. 

Fritz Guard vs. Fritz Complete
While both are excellent water conditioners, Fritz Guard focuses on removing chlorine/chloramine/heavy metals and supporting fish health with aloe and vitamins. Fritz Complete is a more concentrated, all-in-one formula that also detoxifies ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate in addition to chlorine and heavy metals
