Hygrophila corymbosa, commonly known as Giant Hygro or Temple Plant, is a popular and versatile aquatic stem plant native to Southeast Asia. Valued for its large, broad, green leaves and fast growth, it is a hardy and undemanding plant that is excellent for beginners

• Leaves: In its submerged form, it has large, lance-shaped, bright green leaves. New leaves can develop purple hues under optimal conditions.
• Stems: It has strong, upright stems.
• Coloration: Under high light and with sufficient iron, the leaves can develop bronze, red, or orange tints.
• Growth: In open-topped tanks or paludariums, it can grow out of the water (emersed), where it can produce small purple flowers. 

• Lighting: Hygrophila corymbosa is very adaptable and can thrive in a range of light conditions, from low to high. Medium light is generally recommended for the best growth.
• CO2: While not strictly necessary, providing a CO2 injection will significantly boost its growth and coloration.
• Fertilization: A nutrient-rich substrate is beneficial, as the plant is a fast and aggressive feeder. Dosing with liquid macro and micronutrients, especially iron, is recommended to prevent yellowing leaves and promote vibrant colors.
• Water parameters: It is very tolerant of a wide range of water conditions. The ideal temperature is 68–82°F (20–28°C) and the pH should be kept below 7.5.
• Placement: Due to its potential size, it is best suited for the midground or background of the aquarium, especially in larger tanks. 

• Propagation: This is a very easy plant to propagate. Simply take a cutting from the top of an established stem and replant it directly into the substrate.
• Pruning: Frequent pruning is necessary to maintain its shape and prevent it from overgrowing. To promote bushier growth, trim the stems regularly. The base of the trimmed stem will often grow new side shoots. 

• H. corymbosa 'Compacta': A smaller, more compact variety suitable for the foreground or midground.
• H. corymbosa 'Siamensis': A variety with narrower leaves.
• H. corymbosa 'Siamensis 53B': A very bushy variety of Siamensis.
• H. corymbosa 'Cherry Leaf': A cultivar known for its pronounced red coloration.
